The new range-extended electric aka plug-in hybrid Karma GS-6 built by Karma Automotive costs less than a pure battery-electric vehicle. And it won’t disappoint you. Just take a look at what it promises.

This autumn, Karma announced t its plans for the company’s future models.
Joost de Vries, Karma's vice president of global sales and customer experience, explained that GS-6’s price is all about the flexibility and the possibility of traveling up to 330 miles, on a full battery and fuel tank. And it has all approvements from the Environmental Protection Agency.

Despite its little information on technical details, it’s known so far that, the GS-6 will have two electric motors to power its rear wheels. So, it’s expected a deliver a total of 536 hp and 550 lb-ft of torque.

The Karma GS-6 will three different models - Standard, Luxury, and Sport. Each one has different results for a 0-60 mph:
Standard & Luxury - 4.5 seconds
Sport – 3.9 seconds.

On Electric mode, the motor will use the 28-kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which can be charged fully in four hours on a standard Level 2 charger, or charge up to 90 percent in 34 minutes with a DC fast charger.

The battery pack provides an EPA-rated electric-only range, depending on the wheels you choose on the first two models. You get 61 miles for models with 21-inch wheels or, 54 miles for models with 22-inch wheels(standard on the GS-6 Sport).  Karma GS-6 also comes with a BMW-sourced 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder gasoline as a range extender.

Expecting more orders, and with only a 15,000-vehicle-per-year capacity of its Moreno Valley, California plant, Karma Automotive wants now to expand, China, Europe, and Vietnam being all under consideration. sales and delivery options are also under discussion, but it’s set that anyone can make a reservation for their latest models, Karma GSe-6 and GS-6 models with only a $100 deposit.
