Meet the Hongqi E-QM5 electric sedan with a stormtrooper-like face. Featuring the H9 Luxo-barge and S9 hybrid hypercar concept, Hongqi conquers the electric segment with this E-QM5.

It is just another Hongqi model presented 2021 Shanghai Auto Show that will gladly become part of the  E-HS9 zero-emission luxury SUV line. Featuring a distinctive styling, it still has some weird LED lights up front and vertical slats on the closed-off grille. A short glimpse at what the Roewe Jing Concept would look like with its V-shaped taillights and specific logos on the trunk lid.

The E-QM5 is a comfortable vehicle for at least four adults on four individual seats wrapped in leather and separated by a big center armrests with glossy black accents, carbon fiber-effect trim, and aluminum. The dashboard features a tablet-like display allowing the driver multiple control over the car since there are no physical control buttons. In front of the dashboard sits a three-spoke steering wheel, and you can spot an electric parking brake and hazard lights on the center console, allowing even to operate the power seats and windows.

Despite looking like a large EV, this Hongqi model fits the Chinese regulations with 5,040 mm (198.4 in) in length, 1,910 mm (75.2 in) width, and 1,569 mm (61.8 in) height. Its wheelbase is longer by 15 mm longer than the BMW 5-Series.

Powered by a 55 kWh battery electric motor, it can deliver an extra 134 horsepower electric motor pushing the front wheels coupled to the single-speed gearbox. The Hongqi E-QM5 has an estimated 286 miles (431 km) range rated on the NEDC test cycle. The price for this Hongqi model is evaluated to start at $30,000 (¥200,000) and could even reach $46,000 (¥300,000) in China.
