Here Are Some New Spicy Details On The Tesla Cybertruck

Finally, after a four-year wait, Tesla provides details on the Cybertruck available for purchase, revealing an intriguing aspect on its website. The electric truck boasts a maximum range of 340 miles in dual-motor AWD trim, but what caught our eye is the availability of a range extender that extends it to an estimated 470 miles.

According to Drew Baglino, Tesla's senior vice president of powertrain and energy, the Cybertruck's range extender is another battery pack, similar in size to a toolbox, and installs in the bed behind the cab.

It will be offered as an accessory for Cybertruck owners, excluding the single-motor trim. The increase from 340 to 470 miles represents a 130-mile improvement, consistent across various trims, including the range-topping tri-motor Cyberbeast, with its range jumping from 320 to 450 miles. Despite the addition of the range extender, the production of Cybertruck falls short of Elon Musk's 2019 promise of a 500-mile range.

With the single-motor truck scheduled for release in 2025, there's still much to learn about this variant, leaving room for potential advancements in range and features. While the base version offers a 250-mile range, full disclosure on all Cybertruck trims is pending, and details on the single-motor rig are still lacking.

Tesla Cybertruck production is expected to ramp up next year for dual-motor and tri-motor variants. The recent event at Tesla's Texas factory showcased Cybertruck features, culminating in deliveries of the first 10 pickups. The dual-motor AWD trim, starting at $69,990, is the current entry-level choice, offering 600 hp. Meanwhile, the tri-motor Cyberbeast, priced at $99,990, boasts 845 hp and accelerates to 60 mph in 2.6 seconds.
