Goldmedal’s $2 Million Masterpiece: A Bus Like No Other
by AutoExpert | 27 January, 2025
The 2025 Bharat Mobility Auto Expo had its fair share of jaw-dropping moments, but one vehicle stole the show—a custom-made bus. Designed by DC2 Mercury, the studio run by legendary Indian car designer Dilip Chhabria, this thing isn’t just a bus; it’s a rolling work of art.
If you know Chhabria, you know he doesn’t do boring stuff. He gave us the DC Avanti—India’s first supercar—and he’s back at 71, proving he’s still got it. This wild creation was built for Goldmedal Electricals, and honestly, it’s like a futuristic love letter to the iconic GM Futurliner.
The design evokes a combination of a bus, a bullet train, and a private jet. Even though it’s based on a regular bus chassis, you’d never guess by looking at it. The sleek, curvy body was crafted from 700 molds using aviation-grade composites. The Satin Matte finish, splashed with bold red accents and branding, just screams premium.
The headlights and taillights? Completely custom, of course. The rear lights wrap around a giant digital display because subtlety isn’t the point here. It’s flashy, it’s bold, and honestly, it looks like it could double as a Bond villain’s getaway ride.

But the real magic happens when this bus stops. With hydraulic sections that expand out—two on the sides, one at the rear—it transforms into a mobile showroom. No, not extra sleeping space like your average RV. This thing unfolds into a legit display floor, perfect for showing off Goldmedal’s products. Fancy lighting, lounge areas, and even a mini-bar make the interior feel less like a bus and more like a futuristic hangout spot.

Speaking of lighting, there are over 10,000 LEDs inside. Yeah, you read that right. They’re fully adjustable to create whatever vibe you feel—bright and bold or chill and subtle. Either way, it’s a spectacle. Of course, pulling off something this insane doesn’t come cheap.

Goldmedal dropped a cool ₹180,000,000 ($2 million) on this project. It’s a massive flex, but they’re banking on it paying off big time. After its debut at the Expo, this bus is hitting the road for a nationwide tour, pulling up to events across India to show off both the ride and the brand.
