Driver Completes Pikes Peak Despite Rollover

In the majority of types of racing, your race is deemed over if you roll your vehicle. At the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, this is not the case. One of Colorado's highest mountains, Pikes Peak, sits 14,115 feet above sea level and has hosted the PPIHC for the past 100 years.
Levi Shirley did exactly that. Instead of calling it a day, he pushed on, apparently unfazed. Shirley caught a tire off the pavement when braking, which caused the roll in question.
This perturbed the vehicle, causing it to slide towards the corner and then off the road, where it rolled twice. Shirley was fortunate to have been driving a full-tube hillclimber with safety belts. Shirley was determined to finalize his run up Pikes Peak in practically zero-visibility fog after executing the rollover.
The driver may not have posted the fastest time this weekend, but he won based on his unique riding style instead. We're just grateful that the driver was unharmed. Pikes Peak has claimed the lives of drivers in previous years. Our hats go off to Shirley for completing his run despite the challenges.
