Cybertruck 13,000-Mile Review: JerryRigEverything Spills the Beans on Tesla's Icon

Imagine this: You've driven your shiny Cybertruck over 13,000 miles and now, you're ready to spill the beans on what's really grinding your gears. That's exactly what happened with a popular tech YouTuber, JerryRigEverything, who after a decent run, shared his major gripes about the truck that looked oh-so-promising on paper back in the day.

First up, Jerry tackled the headlights. Turns out, they're way lower than on most trucks—just 24 inches off the ground. He noticed that made a big difference, especially when comparing it to his experiences with his Rivian R1T and Ford Lightning. And to make winter driving extra tricky, there's this little shelf right in front of the headlights that loves to collect snow. Not exactly ideal.

Then, there’s the whole towing capacity saga. Tesla boasted about an 11,000 lb towing capacity, but Jerry pointed out that the bumper tube is just bolted onto a cast aluminum frame, not the sturdy steel setup everyone expected. He even caught an 'infinity sign' next to the towing rating at the launch—kind of like Tesla was making a joke out of how seriously they take towing.

And if the truck's physical shortcomings weren't enough, Jerry feels the heat from Elon Musk's controversial tweets too. Every bold, brash statement Musk makes, Jerry feels reflects back on him—especially since he runs a wheelchair manufacturing business and drives around in something as eye-catching as a Cybertruck.

Despite all the issues—and yes, there were more, like trim pieces falling off mid-drive, a dashboard screen with teeny tiny text, a backup camera that blacks out, and even an accelerator pedal that got stuck in full-throttle—Jerry did find some silver linings. The Cybertruck's exterior is apparently bulletproof to 9mm handguns, it turns heads wherever it goes, and the steering? Super fun and makes the truck a blast to drive.

So, while it's not all doom and gloom, owning a Cybertruck sure sounds like a rollercoaster ride. From quirky design flaws to the impact of Musk's tweets, it's a mixed bag of cool features and frustrating letdowns.
