Bowler and Land Rover Defender 90 Rally Car Is Ready For The Game

It was just a question of time after Land Rover unveiled a new Defender and Bowler Motors interfered. The brands have today unveiled the new Bowler Defender Challenge, bringing the obvious to a close.

Bowler Defender Challenge, inspired by the Defender 90, is a substantially reworked version that will participate in a one-make racing series. As a result, the SUV's front end has been redesigned to boost airflow to the enhanced cooling system.

Polycarbonate windows, auxiliary lighting, and a new rear spoiler are among the other changes. The rally car also features a larger air intake, a sporty exhaust system, and 18-inch race wheels with all-terrain tires. Bowler added heavier front and back subframes, more unibody bracing, and better motor, gearbox, and radiator mounts to the Defender, which is already tough.

A unique suspension designed in partnership with Fox has also been installed on the car. It has new springs and dampers, and also a 1-inch (25 mm) ride height increase. Riders will discover a detachable steering wheel, a full roll cage, and racing seats with 6-point harnesses when they go inside the stripped-down cabin. A firefighting system is also included, as well as a reconfigured gear selection and steering-wheel paddle shifters.

A turbocharged 2.0-liter engine with 296 hp (221 kW/300 PS) supplies power. The makers did not specify how speedy the model is, although the normal Defender 90 with that motor goes from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 6.7 secs and tops out at 119 mph (191 km/h).

Defender 90 Rally Car will fight in the Bowler Defender Challenge series, which will take place across the U.K. next year and include 7 races. The series is designed to be enjoyable for both experienced competitors and those who have never competed before.

However, participants will need a large pocketbook because the 2022 Challenge requires £99,500 ($138,343 / €116,816), which includes the Defender Challenge, series entry, and event support. Clients can also choose from a variety of services, including training, series logistics, and car service.
