Bentley Continental GT Speed Promises At Least 650 HP

Less than a week ago Bentley intrigued us with a teaser photo, now the automaker claims it delivers up to 650 horsepower and that is a country gent's GT-R. And this is a big responsibility - to promise more than just a speedy in a straight line. Its twin version of the rapid GT coupe is ready with a four-wheel steering and an electronically controlled rear differential to ensure the monsters' chance for corner turns.

Despite not having problems on the corners and fast open bends the turns started to become a problem on much tighter curves and a problem occurred and it was overwhelming on the front tires. Bentley claims now that its new hardware transforms the Continental GT into one of the most capable, performance-focused Bentley ever.

The Bentley's speed is ensured by the 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged W12 upgraded with a mild upgrade up to 640 horsepower and 900 Newton-meters. The top speed is 208 mph reaching 0-60 mph in just 3.5 seconds. The engine is coupled to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. You get a longer hang onto the gears which helps switch ratios in half the time the stock car needs.

Other improvements are the new set of carbon-ceramic brake rotors clamped by calipers with its incredible 10 pistons. Just like the one used in the four-wheel steering was used on the previous Flying Spur it was also used on the Continental GT Speed to make it more maneuverable, there's also the new rear steering and e-diff combo.

The diff hardware will improve turn-in and allow the driver to balance the throttle and steering to deliver effortlessly and with progressive yaw angles. Visually the Bentley has a darker grille and bumper grille, subtly re-profiled sills, a Speed badge on both fenders, and a set of 22-wheels in the optional bright or dark paint.

The interior features diamond-quilted leather, duotone hide, and Alcantara, Speed motifs, and an optional dark-tint engine which justifies the heavy price of $274,900.
