2022 Ford F-150 Lightning Electric Truck Is Incredibly Affordable

This is the electric version of Ford's F-150 pickup truck. Inside 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning it is a 5.5 ft bed and a 14.1 cu ft frunk upfront, which ordinarily house a combustion engine. Electric engines in the front and rear, off-road skid plates, a 2,000 lbs payload limit, and a maximum towing capability of 10,000 lbs come standard on the Lightning.

The batteries have a total capacity of 96 kW, which can be used for tools, toys, or even a house that has lost power. The Lightning's design is softer and more aerodynamic, with dramatic lighting.

2022 Ford F-150 Lightning proportions are also identical to those of a regular F-150, allowing consumers to keep their existing accessories. Pricing is shockingly low: for the price of a 2022 GMC Hummer EV Edition 1, you could practically get three base Lightnings.

This is Ford's largest vehicle, and the addition of an electric version pulls the company forward in its ambitions to electrify its fleet and increase the number of electric vehicles on the road. The new 2022 Lightning demonstrates to customers that electric vehicles do not have to be inferior versions of current models, but can instead be accessible and the most attractive model in a range. The Lightning title was first assigned to a performance model of the F-150 in 1992.

F-150 Lightning is built on a skateboard platform that was designed for the Ford F-150 and still has a ladder frame. It does, meanwhile, cover the area between the tracks with battery packs and secures them with tough steel plates. It's also the first F-150 with a rear suspension that's independent of the front.

For regular 4WD, the 2022 Lightning has 2 motors, one in the front and one in the back. With the enhanced battery, which develops 563 hp and 775 lb-ft of torque and gives 300 miles of range on a full charge, Ford engineers claim it will go to 60 mph in around 4.5 seconds. The standard battery produces the same torque but has a lower output of 426 hp and a range of 230 miles.

Ford F-150 Lightning is the first vehicle to be built on Ford's specialized electric vehicle platform, but it won't be the last. There are no plans to develop a third engine or extra cab and bed variants for a performance version, but this might change if Ford sees enough interest.

For retail and fleet clients, the standard vehicle costs $41,669, which is an almost unbelievable low price. In the $90,000 price category, Ford will also offer XLT, Lariat, and Platinum options. 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning is expected on sale in May 2020.
