Toyota Announces Game-Changing Battery Technology, Projects 621-Mile Range

Toyota is gearing up for an electric revolution! They've spilled the beans on their upcoming battery technology, set to roll out in production cars by 2026. Imagine cruising up to 500 miles without needing a recharge, and even more in future versions.

Toyota's producing different batteries for different needs. First up is the Performance battery, hitting the streets in 2026. It's got a 20% cost reduction for Toyota, 497 miles of range, and a lightning-fast 10-80% charge in under 20 minutes.

A bit later, probably in 2027, we'll see the more affordable lithium-iron-phosphate Popularization battery. It's got a 40% cost savings, a cruising range boost of 20% (up to 373 miles), and a 30-minute to 10-hour charge. Looking ahead to 2027–2028, get ready for a High-Performance lithium-ion battery with over 612 miles of range and a 20-minute charge.

There's a solid-state battery too, arriving around the same time and providing 621 miles of range and an impressive 80% charge in just 10 minutes! Toyota's got plans for even crazier ranges down the road—over 932 miles on a single charge.

The carmaker will also slim down those battery packs, making cars cozier inside and sleeker outside. They're cutting the battery thickness, aiming for 4.7 inches for regular vehicles and a mere 3.9 inches for sporty rides. Goodbye, bulky batteries; hello, futuristic drives!
