This McLaren Speedtail XP2-Inspired Guitar Is Crafted From The Finest Materials

McLaren Speedtail XP2 prototype has served as a muse for the creation of a unique electric guitar. At the 2023 National Association of Music Merchants show, David Gordon Guitars in Miami, proudly displayed this instrument.

A master-grade flamed maple neck complements the lightweight alder wood body of this stylish guitar. It features a lower horn milled from aircraft-grade aluminum and an ebony fretboard. The guitar's finish draws inspiration from the XP2's Saragon Quartz exterior paint.

According to David Gordon, the owner of David Gordon Guitars, the supercar was the ideal source of inspiration. The headstock's backside showcases a carbon-fiber laminate, mirroring the satin carbon door sills of the car. Carbon fiber was also used for the backplate, while leather accents the guitar's internal wiring cavities.

Notably, it sports laser-etched pickup covers and incorporates red accents to pay homage to the XP2's Oxblood Red interior. Back in October 2018, McLaren introduced the Speedtail, touting it as the company's inaugural "Hyper-GT." This aerodynamically advanced vehicle can achieve a remarkable top speed of 250 miles per hour, and the Speedtail XP2 prototype played a vital role in validating this model.

McLaren chose to produce a limited run of only 106 Speedtail units, with deliveries commencing in 2020. This unique collaboration between automotive design and musical craftsmanship beautifully blends the worlds of supercars and music.
