The New Honda Autonomous Work Vehicle Is A Powerhouse In Every Way

The third iteration of the Autonomous Work Vehicle (AWV) has been introduced by Honda to enhance worksite productivity, alleviate labor shortages, and provide workers with a safer working environment.
The electric prototype has been made faster and more practical, while also acquiring advanced obstacle-detection capabilities and improved cargo-carrying potential. The previous design has been enlarged to a length of 3,025 mm, a width of 1,300 mm, and a height of 2,051 mm, allowing the rear bed to transport two pallets instead of one and offering a lower loading area.
Additionally, the maximum loading capacity has been increased to 2,000 pounds, a significant improvement over the previous version's 880-pound capacity. The all-new AWV is an all-electric vehicle that can be operated autonomously at a top speed of 10 mph or remotely controlled at 2.5 mph. The AWV features a larger battery with an 18.6 kWh capacity, providing an electric range of up to 28 miles at maximum load and an operating time of up to 10 hours.
The Honda Autonomous Work Vehicle is equipped with a range of sensors, including LiDAR, GPS, radar, and cameras, which have been enhanced to detect stationary vehicles on the road. Honda is now developing new attachments and tools to make the AWV suitable for a variety of work environments. The vehicle can be tested at CONEXPO 2023 in Las Vegas from March 14 to 18.
