The Coastrunner EV Is A Really Stylish Buggy

The Coastrunner EV, originating in the Netherlands, is the latest entry into what seems to be a revival in popularity for beach buggies. The Dutch manufacturer Savage Rivale, also responsible for the 2009 Roadyacht GTS sports vehicle and the Mirage 18GT yacht, created this electric buggy.

This stylish vehicle has no doors and a ground clearance of 8.5 inches. The Coastrunner's chassis is made of aluminum, and its cabin is protected by a steel roll cage and steel bars at both ends. The lightweight design and composite body allow the buggy to weigh only 1,764 pounds.

Among the many cutting-edge features of this vehicle's design are its sculpted fenders, strong side sills, LED lighting, foldable canvas roof, and tough bumpers with skid plates. The maximum speed is 75 mph, and the power comes from a single electric motor situated in the rear that generates 67 horsepower and 147.5 lb-ft of torque.

The roughly 124-mile range is provided by a 20 kWh battery that is installed under the vehicle's floor. The manufacturer claims that a full charge only takes 30 minutes, yet they do not specify what kind of charger is required. Savage Rivale has not yet released price information for the Coastrunner EV, but manufacturing has begun and there are only 13 available build slots for 2023.
