Stellantis Cancels CES 2024 Due To Ongoing UAW Strike

Stellantis made a surprising decision to withdraw from CES, as “part of the contingency plan implemented since the beginning of UAW strike.” Although they didn't divulge all the details, Stellantis mentioned shifting their focus to business fundamentals in light of the ongoing UAW negotiations.

They emphasized executing a comprehensive strategy to offset the financial repercussions of the strike and preserve their capital.

Even though Stellantis won't be showcasing at CES 2024, they have hinted at showcasing their transformation into a mobility tech company through different avenues, suggesting a more modest and cost-effective debut down the line. What exactly Stellantis had in store for CES is a bit of a mystery.

CES has been their platform for tech and EV announcements. Previous CES events saw Stellantis unveil concepts like the Peugeot Inception and the Ram 1500 Revolution. Stellantis also used the platform last year to announce the expansion of their Free2Move service, offering car-sharing, rental, and subscription services through dealerships.

The intriguing aspect is that the UAW strike hasn't hit Stellantis as hard as it has Ford or General Motors. However, the strike has impacted parts distribution facilities and the Toledo Assembly Complex, responsible for the Jeep Gladiator and Wrangler, prompting this unexpected decision.
