Squalo – The Ferrari 250 GTO Wannabe From GTO Engineering

After previewing Squalo for the first time back in April, new sketches of the car signed by GTO Engineering have been released. Reminder – Squalo has been inspired by the iconic Ferrari 250 GTO. 

The sketches are now revealing the retro interior of the car and the emphasis is on the good old-fashioned buttons and switches, which definitely set this car apart from the modern dashboards and touchscreens. However, Squalo will support smartphone integration and there will even be an infotainment system, which is not shown in these sketches.

The engineers have projected a “secret” technology package, that will come packed with an audio system. Mark Lyon, the founder and director of GTO Engineering, says that Squalo drivers will be spending more time driving the car than looking at it. Therefore, by comprising both clients’ feedback and the carmaker’s experience in sports cars, GTO Engineering focused Squalo’s cabin on simplicity and driver engagement.

Lyon also mentions that it was imperative that in this custom-made model, each detail is thoroughly thought through and carefully handcrafted. All this is completed by the material selection, which is also an important process. 

Squalo will be powered by a quad-cam naturally-aspirated V12 teamed with manual transmission. No other details have been released but it seems like GTO Engineering has already received its first orders on Squalo and plans to deliver the cars in 2023.
