Opel Manta GSe Elektromod - Reimagine The Classic EV In Bright Yellow

Opel envisioned a great back on the road for its previous 1970 sports coupé with upgrades done to the electric and LED grille. The 1970 Manta A elektromod version is shown in the images below before the scheduled official reveals on May 19th, this year.

For a perfect elektromod, the previous sports coupé got a new name, electric upgrades and LED display grille. It is a Vauxhall-Opel joint to bring a glimpse at the electrification future of the German brands. The electric version of the 1970 Manta A sports coupé is both a celebration and the first attempt to show that it is possible.

The elektromod Manta GSe Elektromod is the third model that has gone through the wide-reaching electrification program. Both first two projects - Corsa-e and Mokka-e were a success, according to dealerships reports.

With the yellow retro-inspired color scheme, the Manta GSe has a revamped front end, a fully digital cockpit. The 70s Vizor grille got an LED digital display replacement for messages and animation across the front end. The German brand also mentioned a similar dual-screen setup that is popular amongst modern production cars.

The original Manta A is part of the German heritage car collection and bringing an elektromod version on the market is a good marketing strategy to gain more popularity. The work done will ensure a sustainable, emission-free electric drive, making the Opel Manta almost immortal. First, it will meet all the regulations with its independent spares for engine and transmission or potential driving bans for older combustion-engine cars.

"The transformation to Elektromod also shows how timeless the lines from 1970 are. What was sculptural and straightforward half a century ago still fits perfectly with the Opel design philosophy today," stated Opel representants.

More details should reveal in May, during the official unveiling, when we'll know for sure if this restomod version will make it to Opel's production line.
