Observing Your Blinks And Yawns, That's What Tesla's New Drowsiness Warning System Does

Tesla is addressing the issue of drowsy driving with a new system by launching a Driver Drowsiness Warning. This system employs a cabin-facing camera to monitor signs of driver fatigue, going so far as to recognize yawns and blinking patterns as indicators of drowsiness.

Tesla takes it a step further by using the cabin-facing camera. As mentioned, the camera tracks yawns and drowsy blinking patterns. When it detects drowsiness, it activates an alert on the dashboard, which remains active until the signs of drowsiness have disappeared.

The system advises the driver to take a break and rest. It's essential to note that drivers have the option to deactivate this feature through the Controls menu. However, this deactivation is temporary, and the system will re-engage at the start of the next driving session. 

Notably, it won't activate when the car is in Autopilot or Full Self-Driving mode. Furthermore, it only engages after the car has been driven at speeds over 40 mph for at least 10 minutes. Interestingly, a drowsy driving alert will deactivate if the car's speed drops below that threshold.
