Wow—have you noticed how SUVs are basically dominating every car conversation these days? It seems like the whole auto world is obsessed with them. I mean, every single car company has at least one or two (or four!) in the pipeline. Some brands, like Buick, are even going all-in on SUVs. Seriously, Buick currently only sells the Enclave, Envista, Encore, and Envision. And why not? SUVs (alongside pickup trucks) rule the American roads.

A Quick Nod to Buick

Buick’s been аround forever — well, since 1899 to be exаct — thаnks to David Dunbar Buick. They’re also the folks who helped shape General Motors. One of the oldest American carmakers still around, Buick is now all about luxury SUVs. They sit right between Chevy and Cadillac on the “fancy scale,” meaning you’ll get some nice creature comforts without breaking the bank as much as a high-end Caddy.

2025 SUVs

Anyway, back to the main event: SUVs. They’re not losing any steam, so we’ve got a bunch of new models on the horizon (2025 and beyond) that could be total game-changers. The auto industry’s cutthroat right now—share prices are all over the place—so these new SUVs might be saving graces for certain brands.

To make our list, each SUV had to be completely new and set to arrive in 2025 or 2026. We chatted with some industry pros, whittled the contenders down, and ranked them by how big a splash they might make. Ready? Let’s jump in, starting from 10 and working our way to the most crucial one of all.

10. 2025 Audi Q5

  • Expected Starting Price: Around $48,000
  • Engine: 2.0-liter Turbo Inline-4
  • Horsepower: 268 hp
  • Torque: 273 lb-ft
  • Drivetrain: FWD

So, the Q5 is Audi’s top seller globally—no pressure, right? This third-gen Q5 rides on Audi’s new Premium Platform Combustion (PPC). At first, you’ll get a 48V mild-hybrid turbocharged gas setup, with PHEV versions joining the party later. Visually, the front end is sharper, and the interior is packed with snazzy digital screens.

2025 SUVs

Quote from Audi CEO Gernot Döllner
“As the second model of our new generation of highly efficient combustion engines, this new edition of the successful model marks the next important step in the rejuvenation of our portfolio.”

Translation? Audi’s betting big on the Q5. Especially with all the new Chinese contenders in the SUV space, Audi needs this model to keep selling like hotcakes.

9. 2025 Buick Electra E5

  • Starting Price: From $50,000
  • Engine: Single e-motor w/ 68 kWh battery
  • Horsepower: 241 hp
  • Torque: 243 lb-ft
  • Range: 339 miles

Buick’s going electric, and they’re bringing back the old-school “Electra” name for their EV line. The E5 will be the first of this new generation, sitting on GM’s Ultium platform (AKA their EV superhero underbody). It’s a midsize SUV, will be made and sold in China too, and promises a futuristic vibe with a wrap-around digital display for all the infotainment goodies.

Because this E5 shares DNA with Cadillac’s Lyriq, we’re expecting up to 340 hp and around 300 miles of range in some versions. Buick only has four models in the U.S. right now, so launching a splashy EV is a pretty big move for them.

2025 SUVs

8. 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ

  • Starting Price: $127,900
  • Engine: Two e-motors w/ 200 kWh battery pack
  • Horsepower: 750 hp
  • Torque: 785 lb-ft
  • Range: 460 miles

Alright, brace yourself for the price tag. This electric Escalade starts at nearly $130K. But it’s a big deal—literally. It’s the top dog of Cadillac’s lineup, parked right above the Lyriq and the upcoming three-row Vistiq. With dual motors and AWD, you’ll get a super-generous 460 miles on a full charge (Cadillac loves reminding us it’s the longest range on any SUV).

This is а big pivot for the Escalade. Its gаs-guzzling image is getting a mаjor eco-friendly makeover. Built on the same plаtform as the Hummer EV аnd Chevy Silverado EV, it still has its own unique identity. Given how much Cadillac is pouring into electrification, how they handle the Escalade IQ will speak volumes about their future.

2025 SUVs

7. 2026 Honda Passport

  • Starting Price: Mid-$40,000
  • Engine: 3.5-liter V6
  • Horsepower: 285 hp
  • Torque: 262 lb-ft
  • Drive: All-wheel

The Passport is bаck, and it’s got а bit more spаce this time аround (who doesn’t love more legroom?). Under the hood, you’ll find аn improved 3.5-liter V6, sending power to all four wheels through a brand-new 10-speed аutomatic. That’s one more geаr than before!

The huge talking point is the new TrailSport trim. Honda isn’t messing around here—it’s genuinely off-road capable: forged steel suspension bits, skid plates, recovery hooks, and 8.3 inches of ground clearance. So if you want to tackle some gnarly trails, the Passport TrailSport is geared up to do just that.

2025 SUVs

Quote from Honda
“The 2026 Honda Passport TrailSport is the most off-road capable Honda SUV ever…”

Sounds like a challenge to me.

6. 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S

  • Starting Price: $70,200
  • Engine: Two e-motors (335 hp each) w/ 100 kWh battery
  • Horsepower: 592 hp (combined)
  • Torque: 617 lb-ft
  • Range: 300 miles

Yes, it’s labeled a 2024 model, but it’s been fashionably late to the party. The Wagoneer S is Jeep’s first fully electric SUV, coming in a bit larger than the gas-powered Grand Cherokee. It’s built on the Stellantis STLA Large platform (get used to these new EV underpinnings—everyone’s doing it). Jeep says it’ll drive like a dream with torque vectoring and the ability to disconnect the front wheels to save battery while cruising. Nifty.

Jeep has a huge mission: fully electrify its whole lineup in the near future. And with only the Grand Cherokee 4xe and Wrangler 4xe (both PHEVs) on the table, the Wagoneer S is basically Jeep’s opening act for a big EV future.

2025 SUVs

5. 2026 Kia EV3

  • Starting Price: Mid-$30,000
  • Engine: Single e-motor w/ 58 kWh battery
  • Horsepower: 201 hp
  • Torque: 209 lb-ft
  • Range: 300 miles

Kia’s been on a roll with EVs lately, and the EV3 is their newest little sibling. It sits below the EV6 and the three-row EV9. Styling-wise, it’s got that boxy edge similar to the EV9, rather than the sleek curves of the EV6.

So why is this important? Well, the subcompact EV segment is heating up, and Kia wants a piece of that lower-priced action. If the EV3 qualifies for those juicy tax credits, the price could drop even more. It’s a great gateway for folks who want to go electric without spending a fortune.

2025 SUVs

4. 2026 Tesla Model Y

  • Expected Starting Price: Upper $40,000
  • Engine: TBD
  • Horsepower: TBD
  • Torque: TBD
  • Range: TBD

Tesla can’t sit still when rivals like the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Cadillac Lyriq, and Ford Mustang Mach-E are stepping up their game. The Model Y has been around since 2019, and while Tesla loves doing subtle mid-year tweaks, this time we're getting a bigger overhaul, nicknamed “Project Juniper.”

On the outside, expect a fancy full-width light bar and reshaped bumpers. Inside, seats get more supportive and now offer ventilation, plus a new dash design. The turn signals are even moved to the steering wheel. We still don’t have exact specs for the U.S., but expect more performance and efficiency, because Tesla always tries to one-up themselves.

2025 SUVs

3. 2025 Toyota 4Runner

  • Starting Price: $40,770
  • Engine Options: 2.4-liter Turbo Inline-4 or 2.4-liter Turbo Hybrid
  • Gas HP/Torque: 278 hp / 317 lb-ft
  • Hybrid HP/Torque: 326 hp / 465 lb-ft
  • Drive: RWD or AWD (and AWD standard on Hybrid)

The new 4Runner’s been ages in the making, but it’s finally here. It’s bigger than before and shares its platform with the fresh Tacoma. You can choose between a turbocharged 2.4-liter or a hybrid, and the updated interior features a touchscreen, a head-up display, and a wireless charging pad. Throw in some off-road trims with four-wheel drive and low-range gearboxes, and you’re set for those muddy adventures.

2025 SUVs

2. 2025 Subaru Forester Hybrid

  • Expected Starting Price: $35,000
  • Engine: 2.5-liter flat-4 w/ mild-hybrid
  • Horsepower: TBD
  • Torque: TBD
  • Electric Range: TBD

Subaru’s finally bringing a hybrid Forester to the U.S., after teasing it in Europe. This is a big leap for Subaru since rivals like Toyota (RAV4) and Hyundai (Tucson) are already racking up solid hybrid sales. With people still cautious about jumping headfirst into fully electric cars, the Forester Hybrid is Subaru’s way of easing us all in. It should land at the end of 2025—so keep an eye out if you’re a Subaru fan itching for better mileage.

2025 SUVs

1. 2025 Nissan Murano

  • Starting Price: $40,470
  • Engine: 2.0-liter Turbo Inline-4
  • Horsepower: 241 hp
  • Torque: 260 lb-ft
  • Drive: FWD or AWD

Nissan’s been riding some rough waves lately, so this new Murano is super important for them. Midsize SUVs are a hot segment—if the Murano can win hearts, it could really boost Nissan’s fortunes. The fresh design is sleek and a bit stretched out, with comfy, premium touches on the inside. The powertrain’s improved, the pricing is competitive, and it’s all wrapped in an appealing package. Here’s hoping it’s the comeback Nissan needs.

2025 SUVs

And that’s the wrap! Whether you want something off-road-ready, a spacious family hauler, or the latest EV, the SUV market this year (and next) has you covered. Keep an eye out for these models and get ready to see them everywhere—because, let’s be real, SUVs are still ruling the road, and it doesn’t look like they’re stopping anytime soon.
