Mercedes-Benz Unimog Fire Trucks And Ambulance On The Way

With over 75 years of extraordinary heritage, Mercedes' Unimog is a real classic in the automaker's history. The Unimog has long been noted for its great versatility and capacity to serve a variety of needs.

The truck is now making a special appearance with several emergency-specific variations. Mercedes will have six Unimogs on display at the FIREmobil trade show in Welzow, Brandenburg, Germany.

The Mercedes-Benz Unimogs are known for their toughness and longevity, and they've been converted into fire trucks, which are available in single and crew cab configurations based on the U 5023 model. There's also an ambulance model, and the smaller, lighter U-530 model will be shown as a fire truck.

Mercedes is also sending an Atego 1630 4x4 from the Weddingstedt fire department and an Arocs 1842 from the German Federal Police to the event, in addition to these Unimogs. These Unimog vehicles run on either the 5.1-liter OM 934 or the 7.7-liter OM 936 engines, which produce up to 354 horsepower and a sizable 1,018 pound-feet of torque.

If you're interested in these particularly specialized emergency vehicles, you may see them at the 2023 FIREmobil event, which takes place from September 14 to 16. It's a monument to the Unimog's long heritage and versatility, which continue to perform honorably in difficult circumstances.
