Audi Le Mans cars are a rarity amongst collectors because the prototype especially the Audi ones aren’t for sale every day. The maintenance of a prototype race sports car is expensive and requires staff, knowledge, heavy budgeting, and a unique selling opportunity. Well, here comes the good news – the Audi R18 TDI Le Mans prototype is out for sale now.

The auction will be held at the Arts & Revs auction house and the lot is a legit 2021 Audi factory LMP1, the final pre-hybrid Le Mans-winning car. The working model is fully functional and comes with an engineer for racing as a bonus.

For 2011, 532 Hp were a big hit and the Audi R18 TDI won The Le Mans carnage competition. The lot presented for auction, chassis 100, never raced but was part of the reserve at Intercontinental Le Mans Challenge races and was used for testing and homologation.

Later the prototype became a hybrid car, chassis 100 was fully restored for the Audi Sport team. It has now a “hot vee” turbocharged V6 diesel and became the twin of the winner at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2011. The engine and the gearbox are estimated to last at least 6200 miles and 4300 miles. Only these small details should give a hint about the heavy price for the race car.
