The “Fifth Element” brought us the beautiful idea of flying cars and the idea stuck in our minds a dream that maybe we’ll live to witness. There’s not much to wait for the tech miracle. Different team members from McLaren, Boeing, Jaguar, Rolls-Royce, and Brabham combined their knowledge to create the first vertical-take-off-and-landing “car” is almost ready for racing – the Airspeeder Mk3.

Despite being more of a mechanism able to only “fly”, than a car to drive on the road, the Airspeeder Mk3 is ready to prove that we’ll have a flying car sooner. Ten examples will be built in Australia so far, with a further plan to built more the moment the teams will be formed.

This full-sized, remote-controlled electric VTOL vehicle, built specifically for motorsport. Not a regular one, but aerial motorsport. Swapped in blue paint the Mk3 is meant to blend with the clear sky. Having an ‘octoper X formation’ for a better maneuver, this aerial formula 1 kind vehicle is a great chance to prove that you can ‘drive’ more than just a hypercar.

Every ‘flying car’ features a slide and lock system made especially for battery replacement. ‘Fast and Furious’ fans are eager to see the mid-air battery swap in reality. Remember that these Airspeeders are just a teaser of what might be the final look, should everything go according to the company’s plan. The next planned Mk4 should feature a full carbon fiber monocoque built to house a man.

Matt Pearson stated the unveiling of this “world’s first full-sized electric flying racing car is a landmark moment in the new mobility revolution. The historical moment of racing will take place this year. Get ready to see the future of air-driving.
