One of the most famous rally cars ever made. With a unique shape and being one of the last rear-wheel-drive system that competed on a world rally stage makes the Lancia a car with the most shiny place in a collection and it can be yours since it's being sold on an auction in June this year.

Listed at the Italian Auction house RM Sothesby's lot. the car is presented as the first prototype of the Lacia 037, this one was produced and owned by Abarth and its history revealed that it was previously driven by Markku Alen, Adartico Vudafieru and Giorgio Pianta.

Starting 1983, the car had a Martini livery and attended the Acropolis Rally as a reconnaissance car. After that, the car suffered once more a painstakingly rostauration back to its original state under to ownership of Sergio Limone. For this auction the car passed rigorous testings for the wind tunnel and on track.

At a closer look, it's pretty clear that the square front wheel wells, vents on the front and rear renders, along with the circular taillights were replaced. Meanwhile, the prototype still has the original headlights, fog lights, and hood vents suffering only minor alterations.

The engine is the car's hero survived remaining the original mid-mounted, supercharged 1,995 cc inline-four engine that was restaured by Limone to its exact original specifications. The prototype is still different from the roadgoing version with its vents, pull-cord doors and manual mirrors that look mostly as afterthoughts. The dashboard has the most prototype-like view looking like a vessel for instruments, buttons and switches.

Despite the odd looking prototype, this car is worth of a collection. More details about the price or car's specs weren't reveled by RM Sothesby's lot. The photos reveal enough for the true enthusiastic collectors of the car's category. It's a rare one and supposedly will go for a much heavier price.
