5 Scenic Drives That Will Change the Way You See the World

Some drives just hit different. These five spots are amazing scenic drives that will have you questioning why you ever thought your hometown was pretty.
Italy: Where Volcanoes Meet Pizza
Naples is wild – you're literally eating the world's best pizza while staring at a volcano that could theoretically end you. Mount Vesuvius just looms there, all dramatic and moody, like it's posing for Instagram.

The drive around here is nuts. You'll cruise past Pompeii (yeah, the ancient city that got absolutely wrecked), and honestly, it's hard not to feel a little existential about the whole thing. Plus there's wine everywhere because apparently Italians figured out how to make volcanic soil work for them.
The Royal Palace in Naples is pretty bonkers too – imagine living somewhere that fancy. And Ovo Castle? It's sitting on its own tiny island like some medieval flex.
Switzerland: Basically a Postcard That Came to Life
Look, Switzerland is just showing off at this point. The Alps are so ridiculously beautiful it almost feels fake – like someone cranked the saturation up too high on reality.
Lucerne is one of those places that makes you want to quit your job and become a travel blogger. The lake is crystal clear, the mountains are doing their mountain thing in the background, and everything looks like it belongs in a fairy tale.
Fair warning though – you'll spend more time pulled over taking photos than actually driving. The roads wind through all this insane scenery and your brain just can't process it all while moving.

Canada: Nature's Overachiever
Vancouver somehow managed to be a legit big city while staying absolutely gorgeous. It's got this whole arts and culture scene going on, but then you look up and there are these massive mountains just chilling in the background like it's no big deal.
Vancouver Island is where things get really crazy though. Pacific Rim National Park is the kind of place that makes you understand why people become obsessed with the outdoors. Whether you're into hardcore hiking or just want to sit by the water and contemplate life, it's got you covered.
Canada's huge – like stupidly huge – so road tripping there is basically a choose-your-own-adventure book with really good scenery.

Ireland: Green Level Maximum
Ireland doesn't mess around with the whole "emerald isle" thing – it's genuinely, aggressively green everywhere you look. The south is especially crazy with all these rolling hills that look like someone's desktop wallpaper.
Killarney is peak Ireland – you've got lakes, waterfalls, a 15th-century castle just hanging out, and more shades of green than you knew existed. It's like someone took every Irish stereotype and made them all real in one place.
The coast is right there too, so you can get your dramatic cliff fix whenever the mood strikes. Cork's nearby if you need some city vibes to balance out all the nature.

Vietnam: Completely Unhinged (In a Good Way)
Vietnam is bonkers in the best possible way. Halong Bay looks like something from another planet with all those limestone towers just shooting up out of the water. And the caves? Some of them are so big you could fit entire city blocks inside.
The Mekong Delta is this whole other world – villages on stilts where life moves at a completely different pace. It's like time travel, but with better food.

Ho Chi Minh City will mess with your head in a totally different way – so much history packed into one place it's almost overwhelming. The whole country is this crazy mix of ancient and modern, and somehow it all works.
The weather can be absolutely mental though, so definitely check what season you're hitting before you go.
