The Mitsubishi L200 Is Finally Back in Europe — And It’s Coming for the Ranger and Hilux

The Mitsubishi L200 is finally making its return to Europe after disappearing from the market in 2021. The latest pickup, which arrived as the Triton in other markets back in 2023, now reaches mainland Europe and the UK with the Ford Ranger and Toyota Hilux in its sights.

There is almost nothing to separate the European L200 from the Triton visually, apart from the badge on the tailgate. Mitsubishi keeps the European range much simpler, with only dual-cab versions available.

Germany gets the L200 Diamant and Diamant Top, while UK buyers can choose between the Titan and the flagship Barbarian, which gets a look similar to the high-spec Triton GSR. Other markets offer a much wider selection, including different body styles and special editions.

Inside, the five-seat cabin carries over from the 2023 Triton and stays fairly straightforward. An 8-inch infotainment screen, a 360-degree camera, and several driver-assistance systems come as part of the equipment. Under the hood, every European L200 uses a 2.4-liter twin-turbo diesel with 201 hp and 347 lb-ft. Buyers can pair it with a six-speed manual and part-time Easy Select 4WD or choose a six-speed automatic with permanent Super Select 4WD-II and a locking rear differential.

Mitsubishi could eventually add a hybrid powertrain, potentially sharing technology with the mechanically related Pajero. That option is not expected until closer to the end of the decade, likely alongside a larger mid-cycle update. For now, the diesel remains the only choice.

The Mitsubishi L200 reaches German dealers in November, with prices starting at €39,990 ($45,900) for the Diamant and €52,990 ($60,800) for the Diamant Top. In the UK, the Titan starts at £36,295 ($48,500), while the Barbarian costs £39,995 ($53,500). After five years away, Mitsubishi is finally putting the L200 back into Europe’s pickup fight.
