Dodge Charger Sixpack Reaches The UK With A $40,000 Price Premium

The new Dodge Charger has crossed the Atlantic, and British buyers can finally get their hands on the gas-powered Sixpack. There’s a catch, though. Dodge never developed the new Charger for right-hand-drive markets, so UK cars will come with the steering wheel on the left.
KWA, the European importer for Dodge and Ram, has appointed Unity Automotive as the Charger’s UK retailer. The first cars are heading to its Oxford showroom, where buyers can see the two-door model, take it for a drive, and place an order. Personalization will also be available.

Then comes the expensive part. The Charger Sixpack R/T starts at £70,000 ($92,400), while the Scat Pack costs £76,000 ($100,400). In the US, those versions start at $51,990 and $56,990. The UK R/T therefore carries a premium of more than $40,000. Shipping, import duties, homologation, and low-volume sales all play a part. Prices in other European markets start at €66,000 ($74,800).

Under the hood, both versions use a twin-turbo 3.0-liter six-cylinder. The R/T produces 420 hp, while the Scat Pack gets 550 hp. An eight-speed automatic sends the power to all four wheels. A rear-wheel-drive mode is available when you want to send the power to the back.

That puts the Charger in interesting company in Britain. A £70,000 budget also gets you into cars such as the Ford Mustang Dark Horse or BMW M2. The Dodge brings a very different formula to the table, with its big American coupe proportions and six-cylinder powertrain. Unity Automotive is also accepting special orders for the four-door Charger and electric Daytona, although UK prices for those models remain under wraps.
