Someone Turned a Dodge Nitro Into a Pickup — Then Gave It a Camaro Face

The Dodge Nitro was already a pretty boxy SUV, but someone looked at one and apparently thought, “You know what this needs? A pickup bed.” That idea eventually became this bright-red 2009 Nitro R/T, which has lost its rear roof, gained a custom cargo bed, and picked up a Camaro-inspired front end along the way.

The front is probably the first thing that makes you stop scrolling. A Chevrolet Camaro bumper forms the lower section of the nose, complete with a huge chin and a black splitter sitting ridiculously close to the ground. Above it sits a body-colored grille and a pair of round LED headlights. The combination gives the Nitro an almost cartoon-like face, and the Iron Giant comparison is hard to ignore.

The rest of the body gets its own collection of changes. The SUV rides on huge 22-inch five-double-spoke wheels, with widened body-colored fenders, new side gills, and deeper side skirts. But the biggest modification is hiding in plain sight: the rear section of the roof has been removed to create a pickup bed. An electric bed cover hides the cargo area, while the rear window and bulkhead appear to come from a midsize truck.

Inside, things are much closer to the original Nitro R/T. It still has the factory red-and-black cloth seats and sunroof, with an aftermarket touchscreen and blue footwell lighting added to the cabin. There’s no mention of any engine work, so the truck appears to keep the R/T’s 4.0-liter V6, which produces 260 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque and sends power to all four wheels through a five-speed automatic.

The Dodge Nitro has covered 160,000 miles, but the seller says everything works perfectly. The truck is listed on Facebook Marketplace in Hamilton, Ohio, for $9,500 cash. That’s a pretty specific price for a vehicle that looks like the Iron Giant got bored one weekend and decided to build a pickup.
