The 2027 Ford F-150 Makes The Same Power, But Ford Says You’ll Feel the Difference

The new 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 may produce exactly the same 325 hp and 400 lb-ft as the 2.7-liter engine it replaces, but Ford says the numbers don't tell the whole story. The new engine reaches peak torque at 2,250 rpm, compared with 3,500 rpm for the outgoing V6.

That gives drivers 10-11 percent more pulling power in the part of the rev range they use most. The F-150 keeps its 8,400-lb tow rating, while the 400-hp 3.5-liter EcoBoost can handle up to 13,500 lbs.

Ford is also making BlueCruise more useful for truck owners by adding hands-free driving while towing. The system will work across 130,000 miles (209,000 km) of roads, and Ford says 75 percent of F-150 drivers tow. Existing BlueCruise subscribers won't have to pay extra for the new towing function.

There’s also some good news for V8 fans. Ford is bringing the 400-hp 5.0-liter V8 back to the King Ranch and Platinum trims, neither of which has offered a V8 since 2003. The rest of the engine range includes the 430-hp 3.5-liter PowerBoost hybrid, the 450-hp 3.5-liter EcoBoost in the Raptor, and the 720-hp 5.2-liter V8 in the Raptor R.

At the other end of the range, Ford wants to make the regular Raptor and Tremor more affordable for 2027. The company hasn't announced new prices yet, but the 2026 Tremor started at $67,710, while the Raptor cost $81,800. To bring those numbers down, Ford plans to remove some equipment.

The entry-level Raptor will lose its head-up display, fog lights, 2 kW onboard power supply, power-adjustable passenger seat, and power steering column. Ford will also fit a less advanced sound system. The base Tremor will move to an STX-based setup and drop heated seats, dual-zone climate control, running boards, and power rear glass.

With a new engine, more V8 availability, and extra towing technology, Ford is giving the 2027 F-150 a fairly broad update. The company is also trying to make the performance-focused versions easier to reach, although we'll have to wait for the final pricing to see exactly how much those changes save buyers.
