BMW Just Confirmed the Electric Wagon Everyone Wanted
by AutoExpert | 23 March, 2026
BMW already showed the new BMW i3, but that’s only part of the story. What people really wanted to know was simple. Is there going to be a wagon? And yeah, there is.
BMW boss Oliver Zipse pretty much confirmed it during the reveal. He said more versions are coming, and the Touring is one of them. They even teased it quickly. Just a dark outline with a longer roof and a glimpse of the rear lights. Nothing detailed, but enough to get the idea.

After that, the internet did its thing. One render by Theottle basically took the rear of the BMW iX3 and blended it into the i3 sedan. Stretch the roof, tweak the back, and smooth it out. The result actually looks right. Like something BMW could realistically build without overthinking it.
This also fits into what BMW is doing overall. The i3 isn’t going to be a one-off. There will be different versions, and at the same time, the BMW i4 is slowly being phased out. So something new is clearly taking over that space.

Then, there’s the BMW 4 Series. BMW knows people still care about it. It’s the sportier side of the brand. Joachim Post has already said it’s sticking around in some form, even as everything goes electric.
So yeah, the i3 Touring isn’t fully revealed yet, but it’s not a rumor either. It’s coming!
