Volkswagen Gives Its Vans A €7,300 Makeover With Zero Performance Upgrades

Volkswagen has been dressing up vans for years, and the idea of giving a workhorse a sportier look is nothing new. The brand has already brought GTI-inspired styling to its commercial vehicles, while the ID. Buzz has pushed the van into a much more fashionable corner. Now Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is adding another option, this time for buyers in the Netherlands.
The new Signature Edition package is available for the Transporter Bulli and the ID. Buzz Cargo. It is all about making these vans look less like something you would pick up from a fleet manager and more like something you would actually enjoy owning. Both get sharper bodywork, new wheels, side graphics, and Signature Edition badges.

The details are quite easy to spot. Carbon-look front splitters and rear spoilers join black side skirts, a black grille, and black VW badges. The Transporter rides on 19-inch wheels, while the electric ID. Buzz Cargo gets bigger 20-inch alloys. Inside, Volkswagen adds eco-leather and Dinamica upholstery with a hexagonal pattern, contrast stitching, and Signature Edition logos on the seats and dashboard. The door panels get matching trim, along with a carbon-style steering wheel.

There is one catch: none of this makes the vans any faster. Volkswagen leaves the suspension, chassis, and powertrains untouched. The ID. Buzz Cargo keeps its electric setup, while the Transporter remains available with its diesel and electric powertrains. If performance is what you want, the 335-hp dual-motor ID. Buzz GTX is still the more interesting choice.

In the Netherlands, the Signature Edition costs €6,495 ($7,300) before VAT. The parts are fitted locally after registration, which also means they do not increase the vehicle's taxable catalog value. So this is mostly a styling exercise, but if your daily job involves driving a van, you might as well make it look a little cooler.
