Toyota 70 Series Land Cruisers Go Extreme With Blackbox Mods
by AutoExpert | 9 February, 2026
The Land Cruiser 70 Series may be old, but it’s still a legend off-road. Blackbox Custom 4×4 from Costa Rica decided to give these trucks a modern boost while keeping their rugged charm.
Blackbox has built two standout models: an LC76 Wagon and an LC79 Pickup. Both get LED headlights borrowed from the new Land Rover Defender that fit right into the original housings - no cutting needed.

The LC76 Wagon is adventure-ready with an ARB bumper and winch, bull bar, extra LEDs, blacked-out grille, fender flares, snorkel, roof rack, and upgraded suspension with 35-inch tires. The LC79 Pickup has white steel bumpers, chunky mud-terrain tires, and tuned suspension for serious off-road work.

Under the hood, the LC79 Pickup runs a 4.5-liter V8 turbodiesel with 202 hp and 430 Nm of torque, while the LC76 Wagon likely sticks with a 4.2-liter inline-six diesel with 129 hp, which is enough for long treks and off-road trails. Both have manual gearboxes and 4WD.

Both trucks have already sold, but Blackbox still has more Land Cruiser builds for anyone who wants old-school toughness with modern upgrades.
