This New Smart Is Bigger Than You’d Ever Expect

Smart is moving into new territory with the #6 EHD, and it leaves the small city car image behind without trying to hold onto it.
You can see that in the shape. It goes for a fastback profile with a long body and a low roofline. Mercedes-Benz handled the design, and it comes through in the details. The “shark” theme sounds like a stretch, but the end result looks clean and sharp. Slim lights, smooth sides, and a wide rear give it a proper stance.

Size is the real shift. The Smart #6 EHD is close to five meters long, which puts it next to cars like the E-Class and 5 Series. That means proper space inside and a layout that feels usable every day.
Sadly, the interior is still under wraps. Early previews point to a large central screen and a raised console, similar to the Smart #5. We can expect a clean setup with most functions handled through the display.

Underneath, it uses Geely hardware, related to the Zeekr 007. The first version runs a plug-in hybrid system. A 1.5-liter turbo engine works with an electric motor for a combined 429 hp. That suits the size of the car well.
Range is the headline number. Smart claims up to 1,810 km on the Chinese cycle, with around 285 km on electric power alone. Real-world numbers will be lower, but the target is clear.

The Smart #6 EHD will launch in China first, with other markets set to follow. Fully electric versions are already in the pipeline, including a Brabus model aimed at higher performance.
This marks a clear reset for Smart. The name stays, but the car moves into a different space.
