MG 07 Looks Like A Porsche Taycan For A Third Of The Price
by AutoExpert | 12 May, 2026
MG is aiming higher than usual with its new 07. Positioned as the brand’s flagship new-energy coupe, the 07 is designed to offer the kind of style normally associated with much more expensive cars.
MG says it delivers the look and feel of coupes in the ¥700,000 ($102,900) range, while targeting a starting price of under ¥200,000 ($29,400). The comparison MG seems happy to invite is the Porsche Taycan, which starts at more than ¥918,000 ($135,000) in China.

And to be fair, the resemblance is hard to miss. The 07 features a low nose, a sweeping roofline, flush door handles, and a rear end that clearly echoes Porsche’s electric sedan.
It also adds its own touches, including C-shaped lighting, front fender vents, and a roof-mounted lidar sensor. The overall shape is clean and modern, even if some proportions look a little softer than the Taycan’s.

Underneath, the MG 07 rides on SAIC’s next-generation platform for electrified vehicles. MG has confirmed that both fully electric and plug-in hybrid versions will be offered.
Higher-spec variants priced at around ¥300,000 ($44,100) will feature the Momenta R7 driver assistance system, which promises urban hands-free navigation and the ability to drive from one parking space to another with minimal driver input.

MG says the system is designed to behave more like an experienced driver, with predictive reasoning and proactive safety responses. When autonomous functions are active, the car will display turquoise exterior lighting. Full technical details are still to come, but if MG can deliver on its promises, the 07 could become one of the more interesting new entries in China’s fast-growing premium EV market.
