Lucid Air Gets A Big Infotainment Upgrade, But Not Everyone Gets It For Free

The Lucid Air is getting a new infotainment system, and most owners won’t need to take the car anywhere to get it. Lucid is rolling out its new Air UX 3.0 system over the air, bringing the Air’s interface closer to the one already used in the newer Gravity SUV.
The update changes the right-hand screen with swipeable cards, so drivers can keep their most-used functions close by. There’s also a new Quick Controls menu that appears when you swipe down from the top of the display, giving faster access to common settings.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto also get more room. Both can now use the full right-hand display, while the new interface makes it easier to switch between apps and use more than one function at a time.
The built-in navigation gets a useful update too. It can now spread across both screens and offers improved routing for electric vehicles. Drivers can also choose their preferred charging networks and stations, while switching between saved and guest profiles is simpler.

For most Air owners, getting the new system is easy. Every 2025 and 2026 Air will receive Air UX 3.0 as a free OTA update starting September 29.
Older cars are a different story. The software also supports 2022–2024 Air models, but those cars need a new infotainment processor first. In the U.S., Lucid charges $950 for the hardware and installation, so owners of those cars will need to book a service visit before they can get the new system.
