Kugel Werks Turned a Classic Mercedes W111 Into a 510-HP AMG Restomod

What if a 1960s Mercedes could keep its beautiful shape but ditch all the old-school mechanicals? That’s exactly what Kugel Werks had in mind with the One Eleven. It takes the elegant W111 Coupe, drops its classic body over modern AMG hardware, and adds a twin-turbo V8.

The result looks vintage at first glance, but it has the performance of a much newer car underneath.

The design stays close to the original W111’s proportions, with its upright grille, long hood, slim pillars, and long rear section. Kugel adds wider fenders, deeper side skirts, 20-inch AMG-inspired wheels, and custom bumpers. Gloss-black trim replaces much of the original chrome, while modern LED lighting gives the old coupe a subtle high-tech touch. It follows the company’s earlier Mercedes 600 Grosser restomod, but the two-door One Eleven looks considerably sharper.

Underneath, things get very modern. Kugel uses the previous-generation AMG C63 S Coupe as the donor, keeping its suspension, brakes, electronics, and drivetrain. That means a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 producing 510 hp and 516 lb-ft, with a seven-speed AMG Speedshift gearbox sending power to the rear wheels.

The cabin remains a mystery for now, but Kugel says buyers can customize it with leather, Alcantara, wood, and carbon fiber.

Kugel plans to start deliveries by September 2026, with production limited to a small number of cars. The price starts at $480,000, which sounds huge until you compare it with the company’s previous Mercedes 600 project, reportedly priced at $850,000.

So yes, you could buy a very serious modern AMG for much less.
