Fiat Just Brought Back a Proper Simple Gas Car

Fiat is basically rounding out the 600 family with a new no-frills petrol version. So now you’ve got three choices: electric, hybrid, or just good old gas. Just pick your vibe.
This new one, called the 600 Petrol, is clearly for people who don’t want anything complicated. No hybrid system, no charging, just a simple engine and a manual gearbox.

Under the hood, it’s a small 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbo with around 99 hp, paired to a 6-speed manual. It’s basically the same setup as the Fiat Grande Panda, so nothing surprising here. It’s not quick, but in everyday driving, especially around town, it should feel perfectly fine.
Fiat didn’t cheap out on the tech either. You still get a variable turbo for better response, a timing chain instead of a belt, and direct injection. Simple engine, but done properly.

The base version keeps things simple but is still well-equipped. You get LED lights, a digital cluster, a big 10-inch screen, and even automatic climate control. Nothing fancy, but honestly, more than enough.
Step up to higher trims, and it starts to feel a bit more premium. Bigger wheels, some chrome details, tinted windows, ambient lighting, wireless charging, and even leather seats if you want them.

Then there’s the Street Edition, which is more about looks. Two-tone paint, blacked-out details, big black wheels, and some red accents to make it stand out a bit. Inside, it sticks to a dark theme with contrast stitching and FIAT logos on the seats. Only 2,000 units will be made, so it’s kind of a limited thing.
Not everyone wants to deal with a hybrid or an electric. Some people just want a simple car that does its job without overthinking it. This is that car. Price will decide everything here. If Fiat keeps it reasonable, this could easily be the one most people go for.
