2027 Mercedes C-Class Gets MB.OS, More AI and a Smarter Hybrid Powertrain

Mercedes has redesigned the C-Class around one big idea: make the car feel more like a rolling computer. The grille gets plenty of attention with an illuminated star and tiny chrome stars, but the real changes sit underneath. This C-Class brings Mercedes’ new MB.OS, more AI, smarter driver assistance, and a revised hybrid powertrain.
The new MB.OS system forms the heart of the update. Mercedes adds ChatGPT, Microsoft Bing and Google Gemini to the MBUX Virtual Assistant, which can hold longer conversations, remember what you were talking about, answer questions, find places, and even identify songs from vague lyrics.

A 12.3-inch digital cluster sits alongside an 11.9-inch portrait screen, while Google navigation and an optional augmented-reality head-up display add more tech. A new 15-speaker Burmester 3D system with Dolby Atmos is also available.

The C-Class keeps its 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder, but Mercedes has reworked the hardware and 48-volt mild-hybrid system. The engine makes 255 hp and 295 lb-ft, while an electric compressor improves low-speed response and the starter-generator can add up to 23 hp and 151 lb-ft. A short overboost function can add another 27 hp for around 20 seconds. Mercedes also retuned the suspension, added more sound insulation and improved the aerodynamics, with a drag coefficient as low as 0.24.

There’s plenty happening beyond the powertrain too. Eight cameras, five radar sensors and 12 ultrasonic sensors support the latest MB.DRIVE systems, while Parking Assist 360 now comes standard. A new reverse-maneuvering feature can retrace part of the route you just drove, which could save you from awkward three-point turns.

European buyers get an even wider selection, including diesel engines, an Estate wagon, a C 400 e plug-in hybrid with up to 62 miles of electric range and optional rear-wheel steering. New micro-LED Digital Light headlights, fresh colors, and the AMG Line Plus package round out the changes. U.S. pricing remains under wraps, but the updated C-Class should reach dealers in the first half of 2027.
