After making a strong impression at the Dakar Rally in 2026, Dacia decided to bring a bit of that desert energy to everyday roads. The result is the Duster Spirit of Sand, a limited edition version that mixes rally style with real off-road upgrades.

It is based on the top Extreme trim, finished in a Sandstone color with Copper Brown mirror caps and black 17-inch wheels. Special decals along the lower body give it a tougher look, but this is more than just a styling exercise.

What really matters is underneath. The 2026 Dacia Duster Spirit of Sand comes standard with a 0.23-inch-thick duralumin protection plate for the engine and gearbox, something that is optional on other versions. Buyers in Romania can also add extras like a roof rack, auxiliary LED lights, BFGoodrich all-terrain tires, and even a 1.2-inch lift kit.

Inside, it is fully loaded with a 10.1-inch infotainment screen, automatic climate control, heated seats and steering wheel, a Multiview camera, parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, and blind spot detection.

Power comes from the new Hybrid G 150 4x4 system. It combines a mild hybrid 1.2-liter turbo engine with an electric motor on the rear axle, a 48V battery, and a six-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The petrol engine delivers 138 hp and 230 Nm of torque, while the electric motor adds 30 hp and 87 Nm. Together, the system produces 152 hp, making this the strongest Duster so far.

Efficiency is a big part of the story. With two 50-liter tanks for petrol and LPG, the Duster can travel up to 932 miles before needing to refuel. Only 500 units will be built, all for the Romanian market. Orders are already open online at a price of 28,990 euros ($34,200), with first deliveries planned for April 2026. It may look ready for the dunes, but it is just as prepared for daily life.

There are dashboard lights that can wait until the weekend. A low washer-fluid warning, for instance, is hardly a reason to abandon a grocery run. The red oil-can symbol is not one of those lights.
